I was craaaaving fresh ceviche and hearty Mexican food but also wanted to try something new, so we stopped by Mezcalito and boy, did they nail it! The portion sizes are well worth their prices as we had to take almost half of my dish to go. That's saying a lot if even the reinforcements can't finish the meal LOL *Oaxacan Ceviche ($13): So citrusy, bright, refreshing and with a hint of spice from the jalapeños. The chunks of sea bass and avocado were HUGE. *Tasajo ($19): Two pieces of thinly sliced tri-tip that are salt cured before being grilled to perfection. *Parrillada ($26): The perfect BBQ platter as it has Tasajo, al pastor, chicken, AND shrimp! I'm a sucker for plump, juicy shrimp so this hit all my fav points. The melty cheese was a perfect addition on top * All entrees come with a side of rice and beans!
Just had a wonderful meal here - I should've taken pics! To sum it up, this is a great Mexican restaurant, and not just great for Rocklin. Saying that as someone who just moved from SoCal. The restaurant is very no frills inside, but at the same time it feels very homey. I like it. We started with chips, salsa, and guacamole. The chips were excellent. Warm, fresh, and very light/thin. Salsas were both very good as well. A salsa verde (a little spicy, but pretty balanced) and a red salsa with no spice. Guacamole was also very good. I usually prefer mine a little chunkier, but it had great flavor so no complaints. I had the carnitas for my entree. I wanted to try one of their specialties like mole, but carnitas is always my go to, so I'll save that for next time. As anticipated based on what we already had, the carnitas was great. Crispy but not dry. The flour tortillas were pretty good and definitely homemade. Rice and beans were pretty standard, but nothing wrong with that. My wife enjoyed the vegan rice bowl. I appreciate that they have options right there for her, makes it easy for us to enjoy a meal out together without going to one of those weird vegan restaurants. The owner Francisco introduced himself to us as well. He was so friendly and gracious, and you can tell he really takes pride in his business and the food he serves. It was a great experience overall. We will definitely be back!
Mezcalito is the best and most authentic food in rocklin!!! Always good and fresh! The ceviche and fish tacos are to die for. Also if you're a vegetarian or vegan there is plenty of amazing options!! 100/10
Traveling from Nevada , on the road looking for a place to stop and have a decent meal before heading home in couple of hours. Husband hungry and knowing his taste buds which runs in American , Italian and Mexican cuisines. This was restaurant was the closest and with food yelp reviews we decided to drive there for our supper. I enjoyed my dish which was called Barbacoa De Borrego. We had shrimp Ceviche and husband had chimichangas. Service was friendly and attentive, no complaints there from both of us .
Unique and delicious Oaxacan flavors!! This regional Mexican restaurant is a must. I'm just adding my opinion to the choir, if you're interested in trying unique flavors that's just a tad different but have a punch, kick, taste, spices, fragrance and more this a place to check out in an unassuming street in Rocklin. I'll definitely continue to explore the variety of flavored this establishment has to offer.
My friend and I came during Labor Day and no wait for two people. We ordered the guacamole, ceviche, sangria, and the mole enchiladas. Everything was so yummy. I just wished the ceviche was served with an option of crackers or tostadas rather than just the chips on the table.
Mezcalito Oaxacan Cuisine is a great, local spot to get some Oaxacan food. We first found this place through yelp and decided to give it a try after reading all of the positive review and to say the least, this place does not disappoint. The service is very warm and welcoming and the ambiance is great. They offer indoor and outdoor seating (patio as well). The menu has a lot of variety and many interesting dishes. You can either order plates or À la carte. Chips are included on the side and are very fresh. They come warm to your table and you can tell that they are made in house with how fresh and tasty they are. We ordered a variety of dishes and all of them were very delicious. Everything came hot to the table and it tastes homemade. The presentation is simple and great. This place is a must try if you are in the area! We will definitely be back for more.
This place packed a punch for an unassuming spot. The food was fresh and terrific and was the real deal. The service was friendly and prices reasonable. We loved all the fruit in our sangria. I'm not in Rocklin much but rest assured I'll stop here again when I'm back.
We recently visited for dinner, and was seated not too long after entering. This place was pretty busy when we arrived. Our server came and took our order drinks--drinks came fast. With that, we were feeing a drinks with no food ordered. Yes they offered chips, but we needed a little more subsistence. A while later, we were able to order our food--the food did take awhile to come out. If the wait wasn't an issue, then I would've given this place a 5 stars. The food was great when we got it, but I think we ended up ordering too much food since we were starving and it was all coming out so long.
